Fencing Heads To Charlotte For Junior Olympics

CHAPEL HILL, NC - A select group of North Carolina fencers are set to compete in the Junior Olympics in the Queen City starting on Friday, Feb. 14, through Feb. 17.
This weekend's event is the last chance for cadets and juniors to earn qualification points for the Junior & Cadet Fencing World Championships in April. This year's Junior and Cadet Worlds will be held in Wuxi, China.Â
This year's field is exceptionally talented and deep, with many Olympians competing, including Miles Chamley-Watson, Meinhardt Gerek, and Stanford's Head Coach Massialas Alexander.
There are three qualification paths. A fencer must complete at least one of the three to earn a spot at the Junior Olympics.

- Option 1: Earn any national points between Jan. 10, 2024, and Jan. 8, 2025. This includes national points earned at the following national tournaments:
- Option 2: Earn at least a combined 110 regional points at your two best regional events between Jan. 10, 2024, and Jan. 8, 2025.Â
- Option 3: Finish in the Top 25% at the Division Qualifiers in your division
