North Carolina's David Ford led the field with nine birdies and freshman Sihan Sandhu matched Ford with a 2-under-par 70 in round one of the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Golf Championship Thursday at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky.
The Tar Heels are third in the 15-team field after shooting 5-under 283. Keaton Vo shot 1-under 71 and Grant Roscich, another UNC freshman, opened with an even-par 72.
Vo was the only player in the field to make two eagles. He made a three on the 600-yard, par-5 11th hole and closed his round with another eagle on the 582-yard, par-5 18th. It was the second time this season Vo made a pair of eagles in a round. He did that in the second round of The Hayt Collegiate in March.
Ford and Sandhu are in a group of players tied for sixth place at 2 under. Virginia's Bryan Lee has the 18-hole lead at 5-under 67. Vo is tied for 15th and Roscich is tied for 24th.
Carolina is five strokes behind the leader, Virginia (10-under 278) and two shots higher than Louisville (-7). UNC is third at 5 under, SMU is fourth at 4 under and Wake Forest is next at 1 under.
The top eight teams after three days of stroke play advance to match play quarterfinals Sunday morning.
