Softball Drops Game To Duke, 14-7

The Tar Heels showed a lot of fight as they went down 6-0 after the first inning and regroup and proceeded to claw their way back into the game. It started with a solo homer from Shelby Barbee to cut the deficit to five in the second. Raeghan Carlson kept the momentum rolling in the with an RBI single to make it 6-2.

Then the big inning finally happened for UNC. Grace Jackson, Lexie Roberts, and Alex Coleman led off the inning getting on for Kat Rodriguez who sent a sacrifice fly to right field for her 63 RBI of the season. Then Carlie Myrtle plated two with an RBI double to left center making it 6-5. Kiannah Pierce stayed hot scoring Skylar Young who came in as a pinch runner for Myrtle to tie things up. Carlson drove Pierce in to take a 7-6 lead.

The Blue Devils fought back scoring the next eight runs to win the game 14-7. The game featured 35 total hits between the two teams. This marked the first time this season that UNC lost when scoring six or more runs and the first time it lost on a Saturday.
