Ford Maintains Top Spots In NCAA & PGATOUR U Rankings
April 9, 2025 | Men's Golf
David Ford remained atop the NCAA men's golf national rankings and the PGA TOUR University standings when both were updated on Wednesday following Ford's win in the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational last weekend.
Â
Ford has compiled 118.77 points in the NCAA's Scoreboard/Clipped rankings. The senior from Peachtree Corners, Ga., has a 21.63-point lead over Texas' Daniel Bennett, who is second with 97.14 points.
Â
Florida State's Luke Clanton is third (95.67), Louisville's Sebastian Moss is fourth (91.22) and Oklahoma's Jase Summy is fifth (88.99).
Â
The margin of Ford's lead over second place is greater than the margin from second to 23rd place in the national rankings.
Â
Ford is also No. 1 in the newly-released PGA TOUR U standings. Following his second career playoff win and sixth overall career victory on Sunday in Augusta, Ga., Ford has accumulated 1222.31 points in the PGA TOUR U standings, 113.21 ahead of Auburn's Brendan Valdes, who is second with 1109.10 points.
Â
Florida's Ian Gilligan (1054.05) is third and the Arizona State duo of Jose Luis Ballester (1037.23) and Preston Summerhays (1004.18) are fourth and fifth, respectively.
Â
Ford is averaging 68.59 strokes per round, which is on pace to set the single-season UNC scoring record. He shares the national lead this season with four individual titles with Dave Huddleston of Utah Valley and Longwood's Justin LaRue.
Â
Ford leads ninth-ranked Carolina into action on Saturday and Sunday when it hosts the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at UNC Finley Golf Club. Admission is free. Play begins on Saturday at 9 a.m. (36-hole shotgun start) and Sunday at 8:15 a.m.
