Strand Earns Third National Athlete Of The Week Honor Of The Season

NEW ORLEANS – Senior Ethan Strand earned his third national track and field accolade of the season when the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named him Men's Co-National Athlete of the Week on Monday, May. 5. This is the first time in program history that a male athlete from North Carolina has been named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season.
Ethan Strand (3:33.22) continued his historic season by running the second-fastest 1500m time in NCAA history on Saturday, May 4, at Morris Williams Track & Field Stadium during the final regular-season meet, the Duke Twilight. In just his second race of the outdoor season, Strand battled with the indoor national champion in the mile, Abel Teffra from Georgetown, and prevailed, earning national recognition.
Strand is sharing the award with Angelos Mantzouranis of Minnesota.
