Kajuru Tabbed ACC Player Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the first weekly awards this season for women's tennis Tuesday afternoon. Oby Kajuru from the University of North Carolina women's tennis program was named ACC Player of the Week after starting the season 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles action. Kajuru earns her first ACC honor since joining the Tar Heels as a transfer this year.
Kajuru entered the spring ranked no. 23 in singles and no. 3 in doubles with her partner Susanna Maltby.
In singles, Kajuru opened the season with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win over her opponent from Campbell. Most notably, she downed no. 5 Savannah Dada-Mascoll in straight sets during Carolina's match against App State. The match marked the first ranked singles win of the season among the Tar Heels.
Kajuru and her doubles partner Maltby picked up right where they left off in the fall with a 6-0 win in the season opener against Garcia/Aneca from Campbell. The duo also posted a 6-1 win over their opponents from App State.
Kajuru's play helped contribute to a 3-0 start for UNC with each win being a 7-0 sweep.
