CORAL GABLES, FLA. – The North Carolina diving squad kicked off the new year in south Florida with a tri-meet against Miami and Notre Dame on Saturday. Sofia Knight represented the women's squad, while Christopher Booler, Carter Loftin, Ciro Mejia and Rodolfo Vazquez Montano hit the boards for the men's team.

Vazquez Montano claimed fourth on the 1-meter, and Loftin did the same on the 3-meter. Knight placed sixth in the women's 3-meter, while she was joined by Mejia as the lone competitors on the platform.

The Tar Heels will be back in the pool on Friday when they host Boston College and UNCW for a tri-meet. Action will get started at 2 p.m. in the Koury Natatorium.
