CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Fourteenth ranked Pitt earned seven wins on the night, securing a 22-9 victory over No. 11 North Carolina, Friday evening in Atlantic Coast Conference action inside Carmichael Arena.
With the win, Pitt advanced to 10-2 and 2-1 in ACC duals, while the Tar Heels fell to 8-3 and 1-2 in conference matchups.
Kysen Terukina (125), Bryce Hepner (165) and Jake Dailey (184) earned decisions on the night for the Tar Heels.
Starting the night at 149-pounds, Pitt earned two-straight wins to open the night. Hepner posted a first-period takedown and never looked back, securing the 4-2 decision over No. 33 Jared Keslar.
Two matches later at 184-pounds, No. 13 Dailey improved his conference record to an unblemished 3-0 mark, posting a 7-3 victory versus 28th-ranked Chase Kranitz.
Rounding out the Tar Heel effort, 125-pounder Kysen Terukina earned his first ACC win of the season, defeating Tyler Chappell by decision, 8-6.
Up next, the Tar Heels will host Duke next Friday inside Carmichael Arena. Action between Carolina and the Blue Devils gets underway at 7 PM, with the match airing on ACCNX.
