Women’s Tennis Ranked No. 3 In ITA Preseason Poll
January 7, 2026 | Women's Tennis
CHAPEL Hill, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released the 2026 Women's Tennis Preseason Poll Wednesday afternoon. The University of North Carolina women's was ranked No. 3, marking the fourth consecutive season the Tar Heels have been ranked in the top 10 to start the season.
This fall, Carolina had a strong showing in both singles and doubles as four singles and two doubles qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships. Doubles pairings Reese Brantmeier/Alanis Hamilton and Oby Kajuru/Susanna Maltby reached All-America status. Brantmeier was the lone Tar Heel to earn All-America honors in singles while becoming just the second player in program history to win the NCAA Singles National Championship.
Carolina heads into the season as the highest ranked member of the ACC and one of just three league teams featured in the top 10. The Tar Heels will look to defend their ACC title this year before making a deep run the postseason.
UNC finished the 2025 season ranked no. 4 after making a trip to the final four for the fifth time in the last six NCAA Tournaments. The Tar Heels ultimately fell in the semifinal to Georgia.
The Tar Heels will begin the 2026 campaign by hosting Campbell Jan. 11 at 1 p.m.
