Brantmeier Earns Second Straight ACC Player Of The Week Honor

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced women's tennis weekly awards Tuesday afternoon. Reese Brantmeier was tabbed ACC Player of the Week for the second straight week.
The senior had another standout weekend for the Tar Heels going 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles while helping lead the team to two top-10 wins. Both of Brantmeier's singles wins clinched the team win for Carolina against no. 9 NC State and no. 1 Georgia.
Against NC State, no. 1 Brantmeier got off to a strong start against no. 29 Gabriella Broadfoot taking the first set 6-4. Broadfoot fought back to even the score after winning the tiebreak, 7-4, in the second set. The senior grinded out a set three win to secure the victory (6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-4). The win lifted the Tar Heels to a 4-3 win over the Wolfpack.
In the match against Georgia, Brantmeier and her doubles partner Alanis Hamilton faced Mert/Dilek from Georgia in the deciding doubles match. The duo went on to win, 6-3, giving Carolina the doubles point. Brantmeier also clinched the win for UNC in singles play after topping no. 61 Anastasiia Lopata in another tight match (7-6 (5), 6-4).
