Bertagnole, Vo Lead Men's Golf In Spring Opener

UNC freshman Carson Bertagnole shot 8-under 64 Saturday to lead the Tar Heels to a 19-under-par final round to finish 11th in the Amer Ari Invitational at the Mauna Lani North Course in Waimea, Hawai'i.

Carolina shot 275-286-269 for a total of 34-under 830. Auburn won the event at 77-under 787 with rounds of 256-273-258.

Bertagnole and Grant Roscich combined to shoot 13 under par in the third round with 13 birdies and no bogeys.

Keaton Vo, competing as an individual entry, shot 68-68-65 and tied for 12th place at 15-under 201, his 54-hole collegiate bests for strokes and score to par. His final-round 65 was also the lowest 18-hole score of his career.

Bertagnole (70-70-64) tied for 24th at 12-under 204, Niall Sheils Donegan (67-72-68) tied for 38th at 9-under 207, Roscich (69-74-67) tied for 59th at 6-under 210, and Andrew Riley (69-75-70) and Sihan Sandhu (71-70-73) tied for 76th at 2-under 214.

Auburn's Jackson Koivun (62-62-67) was the medalist with a 25-under-par 191 total.
