Knight, Mejia Book Trips To NCAA Championships

NCAA Zone Diving Championships

ATHENS, Ga. – University of North Carolina divers Sofia Knight and Ciro Mejia punched their ticket to the NCAA Championships after qualifying at the Zone B Championships this week. Knight qualified in all three disciplines, while Mejia qualified on platform.

Knight had an outstanding meet led by a runner-up finish on the platform. She scored a 636.20 in the event to complete her trio of qualifications. Earlier in the week, she finished ninth in both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions to automatically qualify.

In the first zone competition of his career, Mejia used a 754.95 to place fifth on the platform. He needed to finish in the top seven to qualify and battled back with a 74.25 on his final dive to move up to fifth.

Next up, the women will head to the NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Ga. from March 18-21.
