Johnson Earns Second-Team All-America Honors

NOTRE DAME, IND - Dagny Johnson earned second team All-America honors in her national championships debut, finishing the first day in sixth place.
She had the best finish of any freshman in women's sabre and closed the championships with 15 total wins, including three on Friday. Carolina has produced four straight women's sabre All-Americans.

In her NCAA Championships debut, Mariasole Capellua finished 22nd with five wins, highlighted by a 5-4 victory over Olympian and two-time NCAA Champion Eszter Muhari from Notre Dame.
Carolina finished in 15th place in the first-ever women's national championships as a team.

The men's team will start at 9:00 a.m. with men's epee and foil. Peter Bruk and Elden Wood fenced at the NCAA Championships last season, and Youssef Shamel will make his Championships debut tomorrow as a freshman.
