Women's Golf Finishes 3rd In Gators Invitational

Megan Streicher's 1-under-par 69 was North Carolina's low round on Sunday as the Tar Heels finished in third place after the final round of the Florida Gators Invitational at the University of Florida's Mark Bostick Golf Course.

The Tar Heels shot 2-over 282 in the third round and finished the tournament at even-par 840. The host Gators won the title at 20-under 820, 18 strokes clear of runner-up Virginia (-2). UNC was third at even par, Miami (28 over) was fourth and Clemson (29 over) was fifth.

Streicher (72-68-69) and Helen Yeung (69-70-70) tied for seventh place at 1-under 209. They were among eight individuals in the field of 78 to finish below par.

UNC's Ing Iadpluem (71-69-71) tied for ninth at 1-over 211, Marie Prats-Rigual (70-69-75) tied for 15th at 4-over 214 and Reagan Southerland (72-73-72) tied for 26th at 7-over 217.

Florida's Paula Francisco (68-65-67) was the medalist by five strokes with a 10-under 200 total.

The Tar Heels return to action March 17 in Hawai'i in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational.
