Women’s Tennis Advances To ACC Tournament Semifinals, 4-1

CARY, N.C. – Second-seeded Carolina women's tennis faced tenth-seeded Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals Friday evening. The Tar Heels put together a comeback win, 4-1, to advance to the semifinals to face second-seeded NC State on Saturday.
No. 7 Susanna Maltby and Oby Kajuru opened the match with a dominant 6-0 win on court one in doubles. The Tar Heels eventually dropped the last two doubles matches as Notre Dame clinched the doubles point. UNC headed into singles down 1-0.
In singles, Carolina rattled off four straight wins. No. 15 Oby Kajuru got the Tar Heels going with a straight-set win on court two. Her win evened the score at 1-1.
No. 2 Reese Brantmeier kept the momentum rolling with a ranked win over no. 71 Bianca Molnar. The senior's win gave UNC their first lead of the night at 2-1.
On court three, no. 36 Tatum Evans extended the lead after topping her opponent in straight sets.
No. 121 Maddy Zampardo won a close first set but dropped the second. Zampardo headed into the third set where she battled to win 6-4 while clinching the match for Carolina.
