Wood Named ACC Scholar-Athlete Of the Year For Second Straight Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Senior Elden Wood was named the Atlantic Coast Conference's Fencing Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for a second straight year on Thursday, April 23.
Wood is studying psychology. The senior from New York has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team four times in his career and has also been named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll, UNC Dean's List, and Tar Heel Scholar-Athlete.
He wrapped up his incredible career with his third appearance at the national championships and his second straight All-America honor in men's sabre.
Fencing also had 27 student-athletes earn All-ACC Academic honors.
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in either the ACC or NCAA Championship this season in fencing.
