Brantmeier Named ACC POTY, Five Heels All-ACC
April 23, 2026 | Women's Tennis
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced women's tennis yearly awards and All-ACC teams Thursday afternoon. Reese Brantmeier was named ACC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season with five Tar Heels earning All-ACC honors.
Brantmeier was named first-team All-ACC in singles while Tatum Evans and Oby Kajuru were named to the second team. In doubles, Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton earned first-team honors and partners Kajuru and Susanna Maltby were named to the second team.
Brantmeier earns her second-straight player-of-the-year award after a dominant year in both singles and doubles. She is the first Tar Heel to earn back-to-back ACC Player of the Year honors sine Hayley Carter in 2016-17. The senior currently ranks second in the nation after winning the 2025 NCAA singles national championship while continuing to lead the Tar Heels during her final season. This spring, she has compiled a 15-2 record in singles and 19-4 record in doubles. Brantmeier was named ACC Player of the Week three times this season and finished the regular season with five consecutive ranked singles wins.
Evans has become a consistent member in the top three of the singles lineup order for Carolina this season. The junior earns her second-career All-ACC nod after compiling a 16-3 record in singles this spring. She earned her first ACC Player of the Week honor Feb. 10. Evans currently ranks no. 38 in the latest ITA rankings.
In her first season as a Tar Heel, Kajuru earned All-ACC honors after posting 17-4 singles and 9-2 doubles records this spring. The graduate student was named ACC Player of the Week earlier this season and has consistently ranked in the ITA top 25 for singles. Kajuru sits at no. 17 heading into the NCAA tournament.
Brantmeier and Hamilton represent Carolina on the All-ACC Doubles First Team after finishing the regular season undefeated in league play including three ranked wins. The duo reached All-America status in the fall and have carried that momentum over into the spring. Brantmeier and Hamilton were named ACC Doubles Team of the Week twice and compiled a 14-3 record this spring.
Kajuru and Maltby are the second UNC doubles pair to earn All-ACC honors. They were named Second Team All-ACC in doubles after tallying eight wins this spring including three against ranked opponents. The duo earned All-America honors in the fall and have continually ranked in the top 10 of the ITA rankings each week.
