Tarragano & Sjoberg Bring Home Bronze In 10k

LOUISVILLE, KY - Carolina track and field closed out day one of the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships on a high note in the 10,000m. Tomer Tarragano and Vera Sjoberg both battled strong fields to bring home the bronze medal. The 10k medalists both earned First Team All-ACC honors.
Sjoberg (32:48.29) set a school record in the 10,000m, shattering Joan Nesbit's mark of 32:54.19, which had stood since 1984. This was also her first time running the event in her career.
Maddy Kelley (4.23m) and Spencer Young (47.71m) highlighted the early afternoon action for Carolina. The duo both earned Second Team All-ACC honors in the pole vault and javelin, respectively.Â
Kosi Umerah (62.66m) also had a strong showing as she finished sixth in the women's hammer throw, as all six of her throws went over sixty meters. Umerah earned Second Team All-ACC honors.
