Carolina Swimming And Diving Places 21 On CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams

Chapel Hill, N.C. – The University of North Carolina swimming and diving program placed 21 Tar Heels on the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams. The women's team earned 12 spots on the squad, while the men added nine members to the team.

To qualify for first-team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second-team selections, must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met an NIC "A" time standard in Division I or an NCAA "B" qualifying standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet for Division II, Division III, and NAIA.

The women's program had eight first teamers and four second-team members out of its group. Samantha Armand, Taylor bloom, Michaela Chokureva, Aislin Farris, Mackenzie Headley, Emma Karam, Mary Macaulay and Lily Reader claimed first-team honors, while Maren Conze, Lanie Gutch, Ellie Joyce and Lily Sawyer landed on the second team.

The men's team added six Tar Heels to the first team and three to the second team. Academic All-American Louis Dramm led the way for the men on the first team along with Nate Hohm, Martin Kartavi, Ciro Mejia, David Melnychuk and Colin Whelehan. Josh Parent, Xavier Ruiz and Julian Swiderski qualified for second-team honors.
