2012 Preseason Highlights: Earned preseason ITA ranking of No. 75 in singles...along with Brennan Boyajian, Burkhardt lost in a heartbreaking tiebreaker to No. 1 seed Cunha/Mengel of Duke in the ITA Carolinas Regional final...defeated Robert Hall of Louisville (2-6, 6-0, 7-5) in Round of 16 at Duke Fab 4 Invite.
Junior Season (2010-2011) Recap: finished season with 14-14 singles record including 4-9 record in ACC dual competition...posted 21-9 record in doubles action including a 9-4 ACC mark...earned a 6-4 record against ranked doubles opponents...won at No. 4 singles over Daniel Whitehead (6-3, 6-4) and in doubles competition with Stefan Hardy over No. 23 Damico/Holiner (8-5) to help then No. 30 UNC knock off No. 3 Texas for the Tar Heels biggest road upset since 1994...secured Carolina's only two wins against No. 1 UVA, knocking off No. 44 Jamere Jenkins (6-3,6-1) in singles as well as Jenkins and Sanam Singh (8-5) in doubles...in 2010 preseason Burkhardt, along with partner Jose Hernandez, reached doubles final at the ITA Carolinas Regional...won the doubles championship at the UVA+1 Fall Invitational with Hernandez...lost to eventual champion Cunha in the quarterfinals of the Carolinas Regional in singles.
University of Florida (2008-10): In two seasons, Burkhardt managed a 40-24 singles record and went 36-28 in doubles...ranked in the top 20 in doubles his freshman year...played regularly at the No. 2 flight his sophomore year.
Prep Highlights: Ranked as high as No. 12 nationally by tennisrecruiting.net while at Menendez...when signed with Florida was No. 21 and No. 8 in the southeast...after reaching state finals in both doubles in singles as a sophomore, was state singles champion his junior year of high school...Reached the semifinals of the supernational clay courts.
General: Parents are Peter and Debbie Burkhardt...has three siblings, Justine (22), who was an All-American volleyball player at Flagler College; Molly (13); and Ryan (11)...Earned All-SEC Academic honors in his two years at Florida.
