Started for most of the season at 149 pounds ... ended the year with a record of 10-9 at 149 and 5-7 at 157 ... went 7-8 in dual matches and 3-2 in the ACC ... placed second at the ACC Championship at 157 pounds falling to No. 17 Scott Garren (NC State) 2-1 ... dropped his two matches at the NCAA Tournament at 157, losing to seventh-seeded Derek Zinck (Lehigh), F 5:45, and Derek Jenkins (Rider), 7-6 ... had a second-place finish at the Carolina-Sharpie Open at 149 pounds.

As a Junior (2001-02) … Appeared in 13 meets for the Tar Heels … ended the season with an overall record of 12-14 … went 3-2 in the ESU and Sharpie Opens … picked up victories over Cumberland’s Jason Moody, 6-5, and UNC-Greensboro’s Nate Parmenter, 4-2 … largest margin of victory came against Drexel’s Mike Wernett, 14-3.
