2019-20 (Freshman): Competed at 285 pounds at the Newberry Open after finishing the 2019 UNC football season • Won two matches via decision in Newberry, going 2-2 in the tournament
Prep: A two-year player along the offensive and defensive line at Swain County High School • Served as a captain for both the football and wrestling teams • Posted 92 tackles over his two seasons • Was the Swain County Male Athlete of the Year as a senior • Earned second-team All-WNC honors on the offensive line • Helped clear a path for an offense that posted 3,382 yards and two 1,000-yard rushers • Tallied 39 tackles and 3.5 TFL while on defense • Added 53 stops and two TFL as a junior to earn all-conference honors • A three-year participant in wrestling who went 83-12 over his career • Won the 1A state wrestling championship in the heavyweight division as a senior • Was selected as 1A’s Most Outstanding Wrestler regardless of class • Also competed for four seasons in track and field • An AP student who was a member of the National Honor Society • Also involved in the Indigenous Culture Club, the Interact Club and FCA • Coached by Neil Blankenship.
