2019-20 at Stanford (Fifth-Year Senior): Qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships as the No. 9 seed in the 3,000 and as the anchor on the No. 11 seed distance medley relay team • Received USTFCCCA All-America recognition in both events following the cancelation of the NCAA winter championships • Ran personal best 3,000 of 7:49.01 at the Husky Classic, placing eighth overall and third among collegians • Anchored Stanford to NCAA-qualifying DMR of 9:32.42 at the Alex Wilson Invitational • Outdoor season canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic • Received second team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

2017 XC at Stanford: Earned first All-America honor by placing 16th at NCAA Championships • Was Stanford's No. 2 runner while helping team to fourth-place NCAA finish • Fourth at Pac-12 Championships, a 30-spot improvement from 2016 • All-Pac-12 first team • Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
2016-17 at Stanford (Sophomore): Outdoors, broke 14 minutes in the 5,000 for the first time to win his section of the Portland Track Festival, in 13:59.35 • Earlier, set PB of 14:06.46 to place seventh at his first Pac-12 Championships, in collegiate outdoor track debut • Ran in one indoor meet, setting a personal best in the mile of 4:05.74 at the UW Invitational.
2016 XC at Stanford: Made collegiate debut at the USF Invitational, placing 24th • Stanford's No. 6 at Pac-12 Championships • Alternate on Stanford's NCAA runner-up team.
2015-16 at Stanford (Freshman): Redshirted the outdoor season, but competed in four meets unattached and set 5,000 personal best of 14:08.09 at the Payton Jordan Invitational • Did not compete during the 2016 indoor season • Placed fourth in the 5,000 at the 2016 U.S. junior nationals.
2015 XC at Stanford: Did not compete during the 2015 cross country season.
Prep: Ran 8:48.88 two-mile to finish third at 2015 New Balance Indoor Nationals at The Armory • Clocked 8:43.93 for 3,200 (converted to 8:46.97 for two miles) at the 2015 outdoor Loucks Games, the No. 3 time in the U.S • Ran the fastest 5,000 in the nation in 2014 when he clocked 14:16.61 to win the New Balance Outdoor Nationals by 13 seconds • Ran 8:52.64 for 3,200 as junior, a 17-second improvement • Ninth in the 2014 Foot Locker National Cross Country Championships, and 11th in 2013 • Won the 2014 New England Championships in cross country and the Connecticut State Open, the latter in a course record 14:58 for 5K.
Personal: Alex Ostberg is the son of Petter and Eileen • Born February 15 in Norwalk, Conn. • In high school, served as an emergency medical technician, earning certification with 140 hours of course work and exams.
