Career Best Times: 2:01.36 in the 200-yard individual medley; 4:18.85 in the 400-yard individual medley; 1:50.67 in the 200-yard freestyle; 4:50.71 in the 500-yard freestyle; 10:16.50 in the 1000-yard freestyle.
General: An outstanding three-year returning letter winner...an outstanding performer in the IM events and middle distance freestyle events...one of UNC's most versatile swimmers...on UNC's all-time Top 10 depth chart, she ranks No. 9 in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:18.85...also ranks No. 10 in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:50.71...was one of the mainstays of the 2004-05...ranked No. 1 in the 500 freestyle on the team depth chart, No. 2 in the 400 IM and No. 3 in the 200 free...swam at the Seneca Valley Swim Club while a prepster...was coached there by Tom Donati and former UNC All-America butterflier Melanie Buddemeyer Kozlina...was a qualifier for the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials...a junior national record holder.
2004-05: Had another outstanding season for the Tar Heels in her third year of competition...recorded her career best times in three different events at the ACC Championships -- the 500 free, the 200 free and the 400 IM...reached the ACC championship final of the 500-yard freestyle, placing seventh and moving into 10th place all-time in the Carolina record books with a time of 4:50.71...took fifth in the 400-yard individual medley at ACCs and in the process claimed the ninth spot in the record brooks at UNC...was a key part of the third place 800-yard freestyle relay team...finished 10th in the 200-yard freestyle in her third career best clocking of the meet.
2003-04: Swam on an 800-yard freestyle relay team which won the ACC championships and in the process set the ACC record in the event...that relay included Virginia Hanson, Kelly Weeks, Smith and Jessi Perruquet...Smith had the second fastest split of any swimmer on the relay at 1:48.55...as an individual at the ACC Championships, she won the consolation final in the 400-yard individual medley at 4:22.68 and thus took ninth overall in the event...in the 200-yard individual medley, she placed 10th in 2:03.78...finished 11th in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:50.87...All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection based on her participation on the 800 free relay.
2002-03: At the 2003 ACC Championships, she placed 10th in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.85..copped a 13th place finish in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:23.29...took the 18th spot in the 1650 freestyle at 17:30.29.
Prep: A June 7, 2002 alumna of Seneca Valley High School in Harmony, Pa....competed on the swimming team and played volleyball and softball...also ran cross country as a prep student-athlete...four-year Most Valuable Performer on the swimming squad...was accorded the honor as the top female athlete in her school district...a two-year team captain in 2001 and 2002...three-year state champion...placed four years on the school Honor Roll...was the recipient of the Sherman Award and a member of the Student Council.
