Career Best Times: 20.65 in 50 free; 46.25 in 100 free; 47.76 in 100 back (2nd in school history); 1:44.47 in 200 back (2nd in school history); 50.81 in 100 fly.
General: Specializes in the backstroke events but can also swim the freestyle sprints... a three-time returning letter.
Long Course Highlights: Competed for Team USA at the 2009 Maccabiah Games in Israel...swam the backstroke leg on the U.S.'s victorious 400-meter medley relay that also included Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Jason Lezak on the freestyle leg...an Olympic Trials qualifier...2006 U.S. Swimming National Junior Team member...named to 2005 U.S. team which competed at the Maccabiah Games in Ramat Gan, Israel...chosen for 2003 U.S. Swimming National Select Camp.
2009-10 (Junior): Swam on 200 medley relay team which set school and pool records...swam the backstroke leg on that relay which captured the ACC title in 1:26.63...All-ACC selection...placed sixth at ACCs in the 100 back (48.45), 18th in the 200 back and 20th in the 50 free (20.65) in a career best...led off 400 medley relay team which took runner-up ACC finish...won the 100 back against Duke in dual meet.
2008-09 (Sophomore): Worked hard to bounce back from an injury suffered during the spring of his freshman year...achieved personal best times at the ACC meet in the 100-yard backstroke (47.76) and 200-yard backstroke (1:44.47) as an exhibition swimmer...had he been part of the scoring team he would have finished sixth in the 100 back and sixth in the 200 back.
2007-08 (Freshman): Had a season best time of 48.49 seconds in the 100 back ...top time in the 200 back was 1:47.78...at the ACC Championships he swam the backstroke leg of the 200 medley relay team that finished fourth with a time of 1:27.97, a school record...finished seventh in the 100 back with a time of 48.95...led off the 400 medley relay team that took fifth place...his time of 1:47.78 in the 200 back claimed 10th place.
Prep: Graduated in May 2007 from Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, Md. ...three-year swimming letterman there...lettered as a freshman in swimming at Bullis School in Potomac, Md. ...15-time high school All-America selection, including nine times as an individual choice and six mentions on relay teams...four-year All-Interstate Athletic Conference selection...four-year Washington Post All-Met Team honoree and the All-Met Swimmer of the Year in both 2006 and 2007...four-time Montgomery County All-Gazette swimming and diving team selection, winning the swimmer of the year accolade in `06 and `07...named to All-Washington Examiner swimming team four years and was its swimmer of the year as a junior and senior...team captain of Georgetown Prep as a senior...led his high school to three metro team championships...National Catholic Championships swimmer of the meet in 2006...Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swim and Dive League swimmer of the year selection... copped a spot on the 2007 National Club Swimming Association All-America Team...Potomac Valley Swimming's performer of the year for his age group in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007...swam the backstroke leg of a national age group record-setting medley relay team...led the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club to a junior national championship in 2007...holds 32 RMSC records.

Section #1: Swimming & Diving
1. The best things about being a Tar Heel swimmer are my teammates.
2. Since my last competitive season, the aspect of my training I've worked on the most is my kicking.
3. My best friend on a college swimming team is Jeff James, UNC Class of 2010.
4. My greatest strength as a swimmer is my ability to sprint.
Section #2: Hobbies & Interests
1. Away from the pool and academics, I like to spend time playing putt-putt golf.
2.On a long bus trip, I'd like to watch Spaceballs.
3. If I could compete in another sport at UNC it would be beach volleyball.
4. If I received free concert tickets via a radio or internet promotion I would love to see KISS.
5. The one hobby I have that people would be surprised to know is that I collect ranch dressing bottles from around the world.
Section #3: Food
1. After a big meet I'd love to see a buffet spread that included wings, pigs in a blanket, cheeseburgers and chocolate covered strawberries.
2. My favorite beverage is Diet Squirt.
3. I'm allowed to enter a room with unlimited snacks, one room has the salty stuff, the other sweet stuff? Which room do I enter and why? Both...you collect treats from both rooms and then come outside to eat them because sweet is good, salty is good, but sweet and salty is the best.
4. My favorite food made by a relative is Mr. Leong's Eggrolls and French Fries.
5. On my birthday, I'd love to be treated by my friends to dinner at Red Lobster.
Section #4: Personality
1. If I possessed the gift of time travel I would go to Rome, for obvious reasons.
2. My most prized personal possession is my Teddy Bear.
3. My iTunes library includes 7338 songs that feature a little bit of everything.
4. In a perfect world where making money was not a consideration my dream job would be a trophy dad.
