Career Best Times: 45.64 in 100 free; 1:36.54 in 200 free (6th in school history); 4:21.07 in 500 free (8th in school history); 9:09.77 in 1000 free (6th in school history); 15:06.52 in 1650 free (6th in school history); 1:51.91 in 200 IM; 4:04.50 in 400 IM.
General: A three-time returning letterman who is the son of an accomplished Carolina swimming letterman...is one of the team's most versatile freestyle swimmers...can contribute to the team with solid times at every distance from 100 yards through 1650 yards...active in Carolina Leadership Academy.
Long Course Highlights: Turned in a magnificent performance at the 2009 U.S. Open...finished 18th in the 1500-meter free with a time of 15:50.39, 26th in the 400-meter free with a time of 3:59.46 and 17th in the 800-meter free with a time of 8:17.12...his time in the 800 meters was a second faster than his previous career best at the 2008 U.S. Open and he also improved his standing in the event by one spot.
2010-11 (Junior): Named to ACC Academic Honor Roll...scored in three events at the ACC Championships...was 11th in the 500 free in 4:26.62, 13th in the 200 free in 1:38.20 and 15th in the 1650 free in 15:39.53...won the 1000 free and 200 IM to lead Tar Heels to dual meet win over NC State...
2009-10 (Sophomore): Copped honorable mention All-America honors after swimming the anchor leg of UNC's 800 free relay at NCAAs that took 12th place...at the ACC Championships he placed seventh in the 500 free, eighth in the 200 free and 11th in the 1650 free...swam the third leg on the 800 free relay that took a runner-up finish at the league meet...had an excellent dual meet campaign...won the 200 free in dual meets against ECU, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Clemson...won the 200 IM versus Maryland...was a member of the winning 800 free relay at the Gamecock Invitational.
2008-09 (Freshman): Bettered his personal best times in the 200, 500 and 1650-yard frees at the ACC Championships...finished seventh in the 500 free with a time of 4:21.07, ninth in the 200 free with a time of 1:36.54 and seventh in the 1650 free with a time of 15:06.52.
Prep: Graduated from Southlake Carroll Senior High School in June 2008...four-year letter winner...named captain his senior year...competed in club swimming since 2002...as a freshman, he was chosen to represent Team North Texas in zone meet in Florida...competed in the finals at the Texas 5A high school championships...NISCA four-year All-America selection...participated in three Junior National meets, one Senior Nationals and one Spring National meet...member of the winning 400 free relay unit at the Texas 5A high school meet...swam club for the North Texas Nadadores...in 2007, his club team earned its highest national finish ever, taking fifth... organized a "Walk for Autism" his junior year along with a fellow classmate to support a team member who is autistic.

Section #1: Swimming & Diving
1. The best thing about being a Tar Heel swimmer is the close knit Tar Heel family.
2. My favorite thing about competing for Coach DeSelm is Rich's competitive fire and desire to be "excellent".
3. Since last year the aspects of my training I've worked on the most are my stroke length and breathing patterns.
4. My best friend on another college swimming team is Drew Mays at the Naval Academy.
5. My greatest strength as a simmer is the ability to apply my work ethic to areas outside of the pool.
Section #2: Hobbies & Interests
1. Away from the pool and academic pursuits I like to spend time hanging out with my roommates and playing video games.
2. The best movie I've seen recently is Inception.
3. If I could compete in another sport at UNC it would be BASKETBALL.
4. The music act I'd most like to see in person is the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Florida.
5. The personal interest I have that might surprise my teammates is that I enjoy watching Anime.
Section #3: Food
1. After a big meet, I'd like to eat at a buffet spread that included bison burgers, steak, ribs, filet, and anything meat with Josh Schnider, Cullen Jones, Brock Park and Sean Lane.
2. My favorite beverage is Welch's Grape and Cherry Juice.
3. My favorite food made by a relative is Mom's homemade potato salad.
4. My favorite place to eat in Chapel Hill is Sutton's.
5. My favorite guilty pleasure food wise is Doritos.
Section #4: Personality
1. If I possessed the gift of time travel I'd like to go to 1970s....peace, love and music sounds pretty appealing.
2. My most prized personal possession is my iPod.
3. If I could go to dinner with a famous person it would be George W. Bush.
4. My dream job is being a world renowned DJ/producer.
5. The most interesting person I've met at UNC is the one, the only, Sean "Gooster" Lane.
