2002 Cross Country: Competed in seven races for UNC  Recorded the third-best time for the Tar Heels at the NCAA Championships, 21:34.5, and finished in 140th place  Had a time of 21:02.3 at the Southeast Regional which placed her 24th (6K)  Finished 14th at the ACC Championships with a time of 21:37.1 in the 6K  Won the first race of the season at the Campbell Invite (15:07.8/4K)  Placed sixth at the UNC Challenge in the 5K (18:20)  Finished in 46th place at the Great American Festival (19:36.3/5K)  At the Asics/Pre-Nationals, she placed 76th with a time of 21:52.2 (6K).
2001 Cross Country: Ran in three events for the Tar Heels  Teamed with Erin Donohue to win the Charlotte Invitational Relay with a combined time of 32:55.05 (6 miles)  Placed 12th at the Carolina Challenge (18:42.08, 5 miles) and 83rd at the NCA Pre-Meet (22:54, 6K).
Prep: Two-time academic all-conference cross country team  Two-time all-state cross country  Four-time state champion 800m runner  State record holder in the 800m with a time of 2:08.84  Won the 1600m and 3200m at the state championships  Member of the National Honor Society and editor of the yearbook.
Personal: Majoring in journalism and political science  Hobbies include going to the beach  Her biggest sports thrill was winning the NCAA's in 2003  Her favorite book is "The Grapes of Wrath"  Lists "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" as her favorite movie  Alice Ann Schmidt is the daughter of Dave and Lois Schmidt  Born October 2, 1981 in Downer's Grove, Ill.
