- Volunteer Assistant Coach
This is Bracy's second year serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Carolina. An accomplished runner as an undergraduate at UNC, she still competes at the elite level. Bracy took 15th at the 2011 USA Outdoor Championships in the 10,000 (33:13) and placed 14th at the 2011 USA Half Marathon Championships (1:15:41). Bracy will compete at the USA Olympic Trials for the marathon in Januray, 2012.
A 2009 Carolina graduate, Bracy wanted to stay involved and show support for the program that fostered her love for the sport. Bracy hopes to help her alma mater reach its potential as a nationally competitive program.
A list of Bracy's accomplishments at Carolina are below:
Senior Year: Earned all-region honors with a 19th place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional • Placed first at the Carolina Challenge • Finished second at the Mountaineer Open •Placed 22nd at the ACC Championships • Placed third on the team at the NCAA Championships.
Junior Year: Consistent fourth place finisher for the squad throughout the year • Highest individual finish was fifth at Coastal Carolina Invite with a time of 18:40.50 • Finished 49th at ACC Championships crossing the line in 23:07.5 • Ran best 6K time at NCAA Southeast Regional clocking in at a time of 21:59.80 for 45th overall • Finished 120th at Nationals with a time of 23:48.1, good for fourth on the team.
Sophomore Year: Highest finish during 2005 cross country season was 10th at the 5K Carolina Challenge with a time of 19:22 • Teamed with Meghan May to finish 12th at the Wake Forest Relays with a combined 5K time of 39:16 • Scored points at the 6K Roy Griak Invitational with a time of 23:54 • Finished 62nd at the ACC Championships, running a 6K time of 21:29.80.
Freshman Year: During the 2004 cross country season, had a season-best finish of 14th at the Carolina Challenge with a 5K time of 19:02.00 • Also finished 39th at the 6K NC Collegiate Championship with a time of 23:00.00. • Ran the 3,000 meters during the indoor season • Ran the 1,500 and the 3,000 during the oudoor season.
Prep: MVP in cross country and track for three years • Northwest Guilford Athlete of the Year in 2004 • 4A Conference Runner of the Year in 2003 and 2004 • Junior Olympics national qualifier in 2002 and 2003.
Personal: Undecided on a major • Hobbies include snowboarding, wakeboarding and scuba-diving • Lists her dad as the person that has had the greatest influence on her athletic career • Favorite book is "To Kill A Mockingbird" • Addie June Bracy is the daughter of Patsy and Dennis Bracy • Born August 4, 1986 in Eden, N.C.
