Head Coach
Noah Goldman, in his fourth season at Carolina, was promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2026-27 season.
A four-time finalist (2021-24-25-26) for the Jan Strickland Assistant Coach of the Year award, Goldman joined the Tar Heels in 2023 from Oregon State, where he coached the Beavers for six seasons, including two as associate head coach.
In his first three seasons in Chapel Hill, the Tar Heels have won 12 team titles, five players have combined for 11 victories, David Ford was the National Player of the Year won PGA TOUR University in 2025 and 10 other players won All-America, all-region or All-ACC honors.
In 2025-26, The Tar Heels won three tournaments, the seventh consecutive year UNC has won at least twice, and three different players won titles. Carolina tied for ninth in the NCAA Championship and was ninth in the final rankings.
Niall Sheils Donegan was a second-team All-America, freshman Carson Bertagnole earned third-team All-America honors and both made the All-ACC team. Bertagnole was the ACC Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-America. Grant Roscich and Andrew Riley joined Sheils Donegan and Bertagnole on the All-East Region team.
UNC was a co-winner at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational and won the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational (shooting 54 under par, the third-lowest in school history) and the Tar Heel Intercollegiate. Bertagnole won the Fighting Irish Classic in a playoff, Sandhu was medalist at Augusta, also in a playoff, and Sheils Donegan won the Tar Heel Intercollegiate.
Carolina won twice in 2024-25, Ford was medalist five times, led the nation in scoring and shattered numerous single-season and career UNC records, and the Tar Heels finished the season ranked No. 12 in the country.
Three Tar Heels earned all-region honors last year, Ford was the ACC and National Player of the Year and Carolina won the Williams Cup at Eagle Point and the Tar Heel Intercollegiate. Even with two freshmen in the lineup, Carolina placed second in stroke play and won two matches to advance to the finals in the ACC Championship.
The 2023-24 season was one of the best in Carolina history as the Tar Heels won a school-record-tying seven team championships, won the ACC title for the first time in 18 seasons, be-came the third team to advance to match play in the NCAA Championships four years in a row and set a record with five players on the All-ACC team.
Carolina’s seven wins included Olympia Fields, the East Lake Cup in Atlanta, the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational and the ACC Championship. The Tar Heels placed third in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, tied for third in stroke play in the NCAA Championship and advanced to match play.
The Tar Heels were No. 3 in the country in the final rankings and posted the second-best stroke average (280.75) in UNC history. All five UNC starters made the All-ACC team and three (Austin Greaser, David Ford and Maxwell Ford) were All-Americas.
Goldman played at Mississippi State from 2005-09 and professionally for two seasons before beginning his coaching career as a volunteer assistant with the women’s team at Samford in 2011. He spent two years (2012-14) as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s teams at Nova Southeastern and three years as the assistant men’s coach at his alma mater in Starkville, Miss., from 2014-17. The Nova Southeastern men’s team finished third in the 2013 NCAA Division II Championship and second in 2014, while the women’s team placed second in 2013.
He joined the OSU program in Corvallis in 2017, where he worked with head coach Jon Reehoorn.
Oregon State won five team titles and five different players (Carson Barry, Shawn Lu, Spencer Tibbits, Brandon Eyre and Mateo Fuenmayor) were medalists during his tenure.
The Beavers played in four straight NCAA regionals, only the second time in program history they qualified for the postseason in four consecutive seasons. In 2021, Tibbits and Lu finished in the top 10 and OSU tied for second in the NCAA Albuquerque Regional, the highest finish in a regional in school history. It marked a return to the NCAA Championship for the Beavers for the first time in seven years. Barry and Tibbits went on to make the fourth-round cut in the NCAA Championship.
In 2023, the Beavers shot 23 under par to tie for 10th in the NCAA Las Vegas Regional, the second-best postseason scoring total in OSU history. The Beavers had three consecutive sec-ond-place finishes and tied for sixth in the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate, tying No. 6-ranked Texas and beating No. 3 Texas Tech and No. 27 Baylor. Two Beavers won Pac-12 Player-of-the-Week honors.
In three seasons on staff at Mississippi State, he helped his alma mater finish in the top five in 10 tournaments and two Bulldogs were medalists. Mississippi State improved in the rank-ings all three seasons and Goldman helped develop a new $3.3 million team building and practice facility. Peng Pichaikool was named to the SEC All-Freshman team and played in an NCAA regional.
From 2012-14 Nova Southeastern had three top-five finishes in the NCAA Division II Championships (men were third in 2013 and second in 2014 while the women were second in 2013).
The Longwood, Fla., native was a two-time SEC Player of the Week and won four college tournaments at Mississippi State, the third-most by a Bulldog. His career scoring average of 73.99 was fifth-lowest in school history and he shot the third-lowest round (64 at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, Texas) and has the sixth-best single-season average (72.82 in 2007-08) in MSU history.
Goldman graduated magna cum laude in 2008 and earned his MBA at Mississippi State the following year. He was a Dean’s List, Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, President’s Scholar and McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Award (graduate studies scholarship) winner.
He and his wife, Ashley, have two daughters, Ellie and Mila.
