2020-21 SEASON

Posted his second consecutive All-America season in doubles with William Blumberg at No. 1 doubles ... Earned Second-Team All-ACC honors for the second time in a row (2019, 2021) ... MVP of the ITA National Indoor Team Championship ... Clinched every team victory at ITA Indoors for UNC, becoming the second Tar Heel to be named the Most Outstanding Player after Ronnie Schneider in 2016 ... Cernoch went undefeated on the weekend — winning three singles and two doubles matches with the third going unfinished ... He capped the championship with a trophy-clinching victory over No. 74 Nick Stachowiak in straight sets ... Only one of his singles matches during the championship went to a third set — Cernoch defeated Virginia's Goetz 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 6-2 to send the Heels to the finals ... In doubles at ITA Indoors, Cernoch dominated at No. 1 alongside Blumberg, going 2-0 at No. 1 ... Cernoch went 15-3 overall in dual matches at No. 1 doubles with Blumberg, including 6-1 in ACC regular season competition ... Earned All-America honors in doubles, teaming with William Blumberg at No. 1 doubles in dual matches ... Cernoch and Blumberg went 10-2 as a doubles team, including 8-2 at No. 1 and 9-2 in dual matches ... Finished the year ranked No. 4 nationally in doubles after reaching as high as No. 3 in early February ... Also went 16-6 overall in singles, including 11-1 in dual matches (mostly at No. 5 singles) ... Honored as a Tar Heel Scholar-Athlete for his academic performance in the 2019 spring and fall semesters … Earned a spot on the ACC Academic Roll for his work in the classroom
