Ranks 10th in UNC history in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.52 seconds and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.57...was one of the top recruits in the nation coming out of high school in 2001…made an immediate impact in the freestyle events and on relays…a promising butterflier who had his career best in the 100 as a UNC freshman…in his junior year of high school, he had the top time in the nation in the 50 free, was ranked 2nd nationally in the 100 free and 3rd in the 200 free…senior national qualifier…swam for Upper Arlington Swim Club under coach Kevin Chapman.
2001-02:
Named to 2002 ACC Academic Honor Roll...had an outstanding ACC Meet his freshman season...swam on four UNC relays...200 MR was second, 400 MR was fourth and 800 FR and 400 FR were both third...individually he was fourth in the 100 fly, eighth in 50 free, and 13th in the 100 free.

Graduated on June 3, 2001 from Upper Arlington High School…lettered four years in swimming and water polo…played club water polo for four years manning hole defense or offense…in swimming he specialized in freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly...led his high school team to a third place finish in the state championships in 1999...that same season Upper Arlington’s relays were ranked in the Top 10 nationally …four-time All-America in swimming…two-time Ohio state high school champion…15-time district champion…holds five school records at Upper Arlington…doubled as an All-America in water polo…helped his team to the state water polo title in 2000 and was named tournament MVP…was also dubbed first-team all-state in water polo twice…he was honored by the Ohio Senate as well as the Ohio House of Representatives for his athletic achievements, an extremely prestigious honor…Scholastic All-America as well as an honor roll student…two-time recipient of the Artistic Achievement Award for his work in ceramics, drawing, and painting...graduated with honors, attaining a 3.75 GPA.
