General: Tri-captain of the 2005-06 North Carolina squad...named three years in a row to the All-ACC Team...honorable mention All-America each of the past two seasons...three-time returning letterman who is one of the best butterfliers in Carolina history...broke school record at 2004 Nike Cup in 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:44.60...that time broke the UNC mark held by David Monasterio which had stood up since 1991...ranked No. 1 on the team depth in the 200 fly in 2004-05 and No. 2 in the 100 fly...also competes in the distance freestyle...swam for Coach Geoff Brown at NOVA of Virginia during his club days.
2004-05: Earned honorable mention All-America honors by finishing 14th in the 200-yard butterfly at the NCAA Championships...also notched a career best time in the 100-yard butterfly (48.11) at NCAAs while finishing 32nd...became the Tar Heel school record holder in the 200-yard butterfly after going 1:44.60 in the 2004 Nike Cup preliminaries...won a pair of Jamerson Memorial Awards at the team banquet, being recognized as the team's Most Valuable Swimmer as well as having the Most Outstanding single performance of the year...a 2005 All-ACC honoree...at the ACC Championships, he was a championship finalist in two events...he finished second in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:45.76...took seventh in the 100-yard butterfly championship final with a time of 48.80...his 48.54 butterfly split helped the 400-yard medley relay team finish in fifth place...finished 16th in the 200-meter butterfly in the semifinals of the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials...had qualified 12th in the event after a 2:01.31 time in the preliminaries.
2003-04: One of three Tar Heels to earn All-America honors at the NCAA Championships...finished 16th in the 200-meter butterfly at 2:00.24, earning him an honorable mention All-America accolade...meet was swum in short course meters because it was an Olympic year...also had a superb ACC Championship meet, earning All-ACC honors...swam the fastest 200-yard butterfly in the preliminaries (a then career best 1:46.12), eventually taking second place in the event...won the consolation final of the 100-yard butterfly for ninth place overall in the event by going a then career best 48.86...finished 14th in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:30.65.
2002-03: Had an outstanding ACC Championship meet...named to 2003 All-ACC Team...took third place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:47.49...finished 15th in the 100 butterfly (49.96) and placed 16th in the 500 freestyle (4:30.96)...voted the winner of the Jamerson Most Improved Swimmer Award.
Prep: Graduated from Douglas Freeman High School on June 11, 2002...member of Beta Club...swimming specialty was 200 fly...co-captain of NOVA club team which won three state titles...placed fifth at 2002 spring nationals in 200 fly.
