Spencer Frame is in his fifth season at Carolina as an assistant coach of the pole vaulters.
Frame helped Carolina to tremendous success his first three years in Chapel Hill. Rhian Jenks won the ACC women's outdoor pole vault title, while Tatyana Kirichenko finished fourth at the NCAA East Regional to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. On the men's side, Noah Cosby won at the prestigious Penn Relays and also qualified for the NCAA outdoor meet. Frame also coached Rob Bates, and Mateo Sossah to nationals as vaulters in the Decathalon. Throughout his time at UNC Frame has coached four people to national championships, seven athletes to regional championships, and one ACC Champion, with more on the way.
A 2003 graduate of Wichita State University, Frame was an accomplished pole vaulter for the Shockers. He was a two-time Missouri Valley Conference champion in the pole vault and a fourtime NCAA qualifier both indoors and outdoors. Prior to competing at WSU, Frame was a junior college national champion in the indoor pole vault at Johnson County (Kan.) Community College. Frame was also a two-time state champion in high school at Paola High.
Frame has also served as a director for Vault-USA, an organization that promotes education and development for pole vaulting in the United States. His previous coaching experience includes two seasons at JCCC where he coached junior college national champion Laura Gjerde. Frame also spent a year training at the University of Arizona.
Frame received his bachelor's degree in sports administration.
