General: School record holder in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:12.11, a time set in 2017…also set school record last year in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 3:40.88…ranks ninth all-time at Carolina in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:36.15…ranks sixth in UNC history in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:07.27...is the third fastest 1650-yard freestyler in UNC history at 14:54.16…anchored the 800 free relay team which tied the school record at 2015 ACC Championships with a time of 6:22.47.
2016-17: 2017 All-ACC honoree in the 500-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley…finished second in the 400-yard individual medley with a school record time of 3:40.88 and was also the ACC runnerup in the 500-yard freestyle with a school record time of 4:12.11…placed fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 14:54.16…swam second leg on 800-yard freestyle relay team which placed third…was a Top 20 finisher at U.S. Swimming World Championships Trials last June in Indianapolis…named team’s most improved performer in strength & conditioning…won the Richard E. Jamerson Memorial Award as Carolina’s outstanding swimmer…at the NCAA Championships, he earned honorable mention All-America accolades in the 500-yard freestyle…qualified 15^th in the prelims with a time of 4:14.05…moved up to 11^th place in the consolation final, finishing with a time of 4:14.12…placed 17^th in the NCAA Championships in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 3:43.91…also qualified for NCAA Championships in 1650-yard freestyle…swam on UNC’s 800-yard freestyle relay at the NCAA meet which finished 20^th and swam the second fastest time in Tar Heel history in the event…swept the two distance freestyle events in dual meets against Duke and Navy…finished 10^th in the 400-yard individual medley at December 2016 U.S. Swimming AT&T Winter Nationals, going 3:48.22…also placed 10^th in the 500-yard freestyle at same event, going 4:2.10…at the 2016 GAC Invitational, he captured sixth in the 200-yard freestyle, ninth place in the 500-yard freestyle and placed 13^th in the 1650-yard freestyle and 13^th in the 200-yard butterfly.
2015-16: Member of All-ACC Team…took third place at ACC Championships in 500 freestyle with time of 4:17.72 and captured sixth place in 400 IM with time of 3:48.58…was the eighth-place finisher in the 1650 freestyle (15:15.50)…2016 NCAA qualifier…in dual meet against Louisville, he won the 500 free (4:23.68) and the 1000 free (9:20.21)…won the 500 freestyle (4:32.02) in win over Navy.
2014-15: All-ACC honoree...had an exceptional 2015 ACC Championships meet...took third place in the 500 freestyle (4:17.27), fifth place in the 400 IM (3:46.99) and seventh place in the 1650 freestyle (15:07.49)...set University record in 500-yard freestyle at 4:16.27...also member of 800 freestyle relay team which tied a school record...tied for leading point scorer on team at ACC Championships...named the Tar Heels’ Most Improved Swimmer...NCAA qualifier...earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 500-yard freestyle where he finished in a 13th place tie with a time of 4:17.09...also swam on the 800 free relay which finished 19th and he placed 20th in the 1650 free...at the 2014 Nike Cup, he took third place in the 400 IM (3:53.61) and also had Top 15 finishes in the 200 free and the 1650 free.
Prep: Alumnus of Osbourn High School…2012 Olympic Trials qualifier… U.S. Swimming senior national qualifier…also played high school lacrosse for four years as a midfielder…competed in swimming for 12 years…volunteered 40 plus hours throughout high school.
Personal: Full name is Henry Clay Campbell…was born August 29, 1996 in Manassas, Va.… son of Susan and Tom Campbell...stands 6-2 tall… has been swimming for 15 years…sport administration major in exercise and sports science department…from a family of eight kids…his brother swam at the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated with a history degree…grandfather played professional soccer for Ireland…father is currently stationed in Afghanistan…was born and raised in Manassas, Va., living there for 19 years.
