2021-22: Compiled a 9-11 overall record and 5-8 dual record at 149 pounds • Opened the season with wins over Yarhoski Aldiva (Life U) and Toure Moore (Queens U) • Picked up ACC dual wins over Virginia’s Jarod Verkleeren and Pitt’s Dan Mancini • Notched two wins at ACC Championships to finish third • Qualified for NCAA Championships and earned two wins
2020-21: Went 12-4 for the Tar Heels in his redshirt-junior season at 141 pounds • Reeled off two straight technical fall wins over Conrad Schiess and Corbin Dion of Gardner-Webb on Jan. 10 • Picked up a 12-1 major decision over Patrick Rowland of Duke on Jan. 22 • Notched ranked wins over No. 17 Cole Matthews of Pitt (4-1, Feb. 5) and No. 16 Brian Courtney of Virginia (5-4, Feb. 13) • Earned the 7-2 decision over Virginia's Brian Courtney to finish second at the ACC Championships • Earned All-ACC honors • Defeated Clay Carlson of South Dakota State 11-4 to earn a seventh-place finish at NCAA Championships • Earned All-American honors
2019-20: Named NWCA Second-Team All-American following cancelation of NCAA Championships due to COVID-19 crisis • Went 27-5 in his redshirt sophomore season at 141 pounds, qualifying for the 2020 NCAA Championships • Earned the No. 11 seed ahead of the tournament • 2020 ACC Champion at 141, defeating N.C. State’s Tariq Wilson in the finals (5-4) • Posted a 14-3 dual meet record • Finished third at the 2019 Midlands Championships for the second straight season • At Midlands, defeated three eventual NCAA qualifiers en route to third-place finish • Earned six wins over NCAA qualifiers on the year • Won, 5-2, over Virginia Tech’s No. 18 Mitch Moore on January 24 to help UNC to an upset win in Blacksburg • Won via major decision nine times, a mark that led Carolina • Was the runner-up at the Southeast Open in November

2017-18: Went 16-20 in his first season in Chapel Hill at 133 pounds. • Posted an 8-12 dual record • Went 1-2 at the ACC Championships and qualified for NCAAs • Went 1-2 at the NCAA Championships including a 4-2 sudden-victory decision against No. 15 Ali Naser of Arizona State • Finished third at the Hokie Open, dropping a close 5-3 decision against Oklahoma State’s Kaid Brock • Defeated four ranked opponents on the year.
Prep/Personal: 2017 Prep National champion at 132 pounds • Helped lead Blair Academy to three Prep Nationals team titles • 2016 Beast of the East champion at 132 pounds • Posted a 128-14 record at Blair Academy • Zachary Dana Sherman is the son of Gary and Sharon Sherman.
