Before UNC: At East Gaston High, played varsity basketball and softball and ran track … Earned all-conference honors in basketball and softball and was named all-region in softball … Played AAU basketball for the Newton Flames

Miller on rowing: I never expected spandex to be my uniform in college athletics, but I could not be any prouder of myself every time I put my uni on.
Coach Haney says: “Mary is very determined and competitive with herself. When she decides to go after a goal, she will not stop until she has reached it. That mindset constantly allows her to improve.”
