Christian Hunt joined the UNC Sports Medicine family as a staff member in August 2018. His primary clinical responsibilities are with the men's soccer and men's tennis teams. He also serves as a clinical preceptor for the UNC graduate athletic training program.
Hunt graduated from Brigham Young University in 2014, where he earned a B.S in Athletic Training. During his time as an undergraduate, he had the opportunity to complete a summer sports medicine internship at the Mid-Columbia Medical Center in Oregon, in addition to undergraduate responsibilities with BYU Track and Field (2011, 2014), Football (2012), Utah Valley University (2013), and Mountain View High School (2013).
After completing his undergraduate degree, he worked for a year as the head athletic trainer for the BYU club ice hockey team and was on the medical staff for the 2015 USATF Pan American Cross Country Championships in Barranquilla, Columbia. Following this year, Christian pursued and completed his M.A. in Exercise and Sports Science with a specialization in athletic training in 2017 from the University of North Carolina. During his graduate studies, he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the men's soccer and tennis programs, while also having the opportunity to travel to El Salvador with USATF for the NACAC Track and Field Championships in 2016.
After completing his graduate work, Hunt completed a one-year athletic training fellowship at the University of Michigan, where he had the primary medical responsibility for the women's rowing program. He also served as a clinical preceptor for athletic training students from Concordia and Adrian colleges.
He currently has licenses and credentials as a NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer(2014), Performance Exercise Specialist (2016), Blood flow restriction therapy (2017), Tennis Performance Trainer TPT (2020) and Dry Needling (2020).
Hunt currently lives in Apex North Carolina, with his wife Jennifer and their daughters, Grace and Diana.
