Mary Voelkel joined the Carolina football staff as the a.m. receptionist in 2022. Voelkel comes to the program with extensive experience in environments that require customer service and integrity. She spent 15 years in sales and marketing, and seven years as an assistant second-grade teacher. Voelkel has volunteered her time with many organizations on UNC’s campus, including UNC Hospitals, the Lineberger Hematology Clinic and Carolina Fever Lacrosse Club, highlighting her passion for the University and understanding of the goal of the athletics department to inspire through athletics.
Voelkel is originally from Baltimore, Md. and moved to Chapel Hill in 1995. She has three children, a daughter currently in nursing school at UNC, a son who is a general contractor in Chapel Hill, and another son in graduate school. Both of her sons played collegiate lacrosse.
