Sash-sha Collier joined the UNC Sports Medicine staff in the spring of 2024. Collier spent the previous four years at Tennessee State University, serving as the head football athletic trainer for three seasons. During that time, she was responsible for the coverage and medical care of the football program, created a student assistantship program for undergraduate students and organized institutional drug testing.
While at TSU, Collier was also appointed the Assistant AD of Student-Athlete Wellness, where she oversaw improving accessibility of mental health services to student-athletes and nutrition.
Collier received her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of Alabama in 2017 and had a variety of clinical rotations such as gymnastics, women’s basketball, baseball and football. Following undergrad, Collier went on to attend The University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she was primarily responsible for medical coverage at Sacred Hearts Academy, an all-girls private school. She then returned to the University of Alabama in 2019 as an intern athletic trainer for the men’s and women’s tennis teams.
