Tony Cosby joined the UNC athletic training staff in October 2022 as the head athletic trainer for Campus Recreation sport programs. In June of 2025, he became a staff athletic trainer for the volleyball and men’s tennis teams.
During his time at UNC, Cosby has completed continuing education courses in postural restoration, advanced rehabilitation and dry needling to further his practice and care for patients.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Cosby has served as a part of the department’s emergency medical committee, a liaison to campus recreation and as a Question Persuade Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Instructor.
Cosby obtained his bachelor's degree in athletic training from Ithaca College in 2019, a master's degree in exercise science from UNC in 2021 and a graduate certificate in public health leadership in 2025.
