A member of the UNC staff since 1994, Matt Bowers serves as Director of Website Management and Media Relations. His responsibilities include serving as the managing editor of GoHeels.com, as well as publicizing and coordinating media relations for the men's basketball and men's tennis teams.
Bowers served as an intern and as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications before being promoted to Associate Director in 2006. He moved into his current role in 2023.
A UNC graduate, Bowers earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in 1994 with a double major in history and psychology. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
Bowers was born and raised in Chapel Hill and currently lives in Hillsborough, N.C., with his wife Crystal, their son Sam and their daughter, Chloe.
