After an outstanding career at Carolina from 2009-12, Zoya Johnson enters her second season as an assistant coach. She was a student assistant coach in 2013 while finishing her degree and will serve as a volunteer assistant in 2014.
Johnson competed on EAGL championship teams in 2010 and 2011. In 2010, she won the first of two league vault titles with a 9.900. She was a three-time All-EAGL vault competitor from 2010-12. Johnson ranks among the top 10 at UNC on vault and uneven bars.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
As a Senior
Captured the individual vault title at the EAGL championships with a 9.900 • That performance earned first-team EAGL All-Tournament honors • Named first-team All-EAGL on vault • Competed in all 11 meets primarily on vault, uneven bars and balance beam • Won the individual vault title vs. William & Mary (Jan. 29) and Temple (Feb. 17) •Also captured individual title on beam vs. William & Mary (Jan. 29) and George Washington (Feb. 24) •Earned EAGL Specialist of the Week honors for her performance vs. Top 25 opponents Penn State and Michigan • Had 9.900 on vault to place second, 9.850 on bars to place fifth and 9.800 on beam to finish seventh.

Earned first-team All-EAGL Tournament honors on vault and was a second-team selection performer on uneven bars • Competed on vault and uneven bars through the first half of the season and added balance beam for the final half of the year • Helped lead Carolina to its second straight EAGL title with a second place finish on vault (9.875) and a 12th place on bars (9.725) • Tied her career high on balance beam with a 9.800 at the NCAA regionals to finish seventh • Won the individual bars competition vs. Pittsburgh and at Maryland • Won the individual vault title at the George Washington Invitational, at William & Mary, vs. Pittsburgh and vs. William & Mary.
