CHAPEL HILL—The unofficial tip-off to the 2017-18 season is fast approaching on Friday night in the Smith Center with Late Night with Roy.Â
Doors will open at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon.  The volleyball team will face Virginia Tech in the Smith Center at 5 p.m., followed Late Night with the men's and women's basketball teams. Admission is free.Â

• Seventh Woods has put in work during the offseason as he aims for an increased role as a sophomore in 2017-18. He's feeling healthier and more comfortable entering preseason practice.
• Sports Illustrated rates Joel Berry II among the top 10 candidates for national player of the year in 2017-18.  CBS' Matt Norlander rates Berry among the top point guards in the country.
• Basketballs signed by the 2017-18 Tar Heel players and coaches are on sale now. As usual, proceeds will go to Chapel Hill-area charitable organizations.
