
Kea, Watts Named Preseason All-ACC

GREENSBORO, North Carolina - North Carolina standouts Paris Kea and Stephanie Watts have been voted on the Preseason All-ACC Women's Basketball Team. Freshman Janelle Bailey is selected on the Newcomer Watch List, announced Thursday by the league office.
Kea, a red-shirt junior from Tarboro, North Carolina, had a breakthrough first season in Chapel Hill where she averaged a team-leading 17.2 points and 4.1 assists per game during the 2016-17 campaign. She was better against the ACC, averaging 18.8 ppg.Â
Kea led the ACC in minutes played (36.2) and was fifth in scoring (17.2 ppg). She also ranked in the top-10 in assists, steals (2.2) and field goal percentage (48.8%).
Watts, the 2016 ACC Freshman of the Year, averaged 16.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game last season. Her point and rebound totals both ranked her sixth in the conference, while also ranking top-10 in assists, blocked shots, steals and three-pointers.Â
The native of Wesley Chapel, North Carolina, set an ACC single-game record last fall when she made 10 three-pointers against Charleston Southern and finished with a career-high 39 points that night, the fifth most points in Tar Heel history.Â
Bailey, from Matthews, North Carolina, enters her rookie season after a successful prep career that saw her named a McDonald's All-American at Providence Day School. She also won a gold medal at the 2017 FIBAS 3x3 U18 World Cup for USA Basketball.
