Carolina Baseball Season Review
July 18, 2017 | Baseball
CHAPEL HILL --- The 2017 North Carolina baseball team returned to the upper echelon of the sport, posting a 49-14 record and rising to the No. 2 ranking in all of the national polls. After compiling a program-best 23 ACC wins and winning 10 league series for the first time ever, the Tar Heels were rewarded with the No. 2 national seed in the NCAA Championship and hosted an NCAA regional for the eighth time since 2006.
Led by consensus All-Americans and first-round MLB Draft selections J.B. Bukauskas and Logan Warmoth, the Tar Heels re-established themselves as one of the powerhouse programs in college baseball. Joining Bukauskas and Warmoth as All-Americans were Brian Miller and Josh Hiatt, and that foursome shares the team's S.H. Basnight MVP Awards. Seniors Tyler Lynn and Adam Pate were recipients of the Walter Rabb Award (most improved) and the Francis "Tripp" Bourne Award (most dedicated) for their respective roles in leading UNC to the ACC Coastal Division title.
