NC State Game Moved Up To 4 P.M. Start On Thursday
January 17, 2018 | Women's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL — The Atlantic Coast Conference women's basketball game between the University of North Carolina and NC State University scheduled for Thursday night has been moved up to a 4 p.m. start due to the likelihood of dangerous and worsening road conditions later in the evening.
Athletic department officials and the conference office will continue to monitor the weather conditions in case further changes are deemed necessary for the safety of both basketball programs, fans, students and staff.
Fans will be admitted to the game free of charge, a ticket will not be required. Those holding tickets may use them as vouchers for any remaining home women's basketball game.
The governor of North Carolina has declared a State of Emergency, and forecasts for this evening indicate sub-freezing temperatures that will continue through mid-day Thursday.
Classes at UNC and all offices have been canceled through 8 a.m. Friday due to the winter weather. Conditions will be re-evaluated and an update regarding campus operations for the remainder of Friday is expected by 8 p.m. Thursday night.
All fans that are making their way to Carmichael Arena are advised to use extreme caution and take extra time to arrive safely.
The game will still be carried live on ACC Network Extra.
