Hiatt Named NCBWA Preseason All-American

North Carolina sophomore Josh Hiatt was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) pre-season All-America first team, the site announced Monday. Hiatt returns for his second season in Chapel Hill after an electrifying freshman campaign.

The right-handed reliever finished the 2017 season with a 1.90 ERA with 13 saves and an overall record of 4-2 in 52 innings pitched. He was a consensus freshman All-American earning first-team freshman honors from Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, D1 Baseball, NCBWA and Perfect Game. He also earned first-team All-American honors from Baseball American, NCBWA and was a NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award Finalist.

The Tar Heels open season play on Friday, Feb. 16, in Tampa against the University of South Florida. The Heels home opener is on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 3 p.m. ET against UNCW.
