Cross Country Teams And Alcorta Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the 2017 Division I cross country all-academic teams and individuals Friday. The North Carolina men's and women's cross country teams in addition to senior Caroline Alcorta were among those honored by the USTFCCCA.
In order to qualify for the honor, teams must complete the fall semester with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, and individuals must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and finish in the top 25 in their regional championships.
The Tar Heel men finished the fall with a cumulative GPA of 3.3, and the women scored a 3.45 to be recognized. Alcorta (Springfield, Va.) earned the honor after excelling in the classroom and finishing 17th at the NCAA Southeast Regional this past season.
Alcorta also earned All-ACC honors after finishing 12th at the ACC Cross Country Championships, and she was named to the All-ACC Academic Team on January 30.
