Tar Heels Launch Spring Slate Saturday

The North Carolina field hockey team will compete in a series of scrimmages this weekend, taking on outside competition for the first time this spring. On Saturday, the Tar Heels travel to Durham to play Duke, Richmond and Wake Forest, with action beginning at 10 a.m. (UNC plays at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and noon.)

On Sunday, UNC travels to Norfolk, Va., to play Old Dominion and James Madison.

After that, the Tar Heels have two more weekends of spring action. On April 7 and 8, they'll play at Duke against the Blue Devils, William & Mary and Liberty. On the following Saturday, April 14, they'll head for Durham again for a scrimmage with Duke.

The Tar Heels lost just one senior, Gab Major, from the 2017 team that finished 18-5, won the Atlantic Coast Conference title and reached the NCAA final four for the ninth year in a row.

After a season of playing "home" games in Durham while a new complex was under construction, Carolina will return to campus for the 2018 season. For more on the team's new facility, click here.
