CHAPEL HILL—North Carolina freshman attacker Jamie Ortega has been named this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Duke sophomore defender Callie Humphrey is the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.Â
Ortega totaled nine points on eight goals and one assist in North Carolina's wins over No. 17 Virginia Tech and No. 22 Notre Dame. She scored a career-high six goals in Saturday's 13-12 win over the Fighting Irish, including five in the second half as the Tar Heels overcame a four-goal halftime deficit. Ortega's six goals came on just nine shot attempts. Ortega also had two goals, one assist, two caused turnovers and a draw control in Wednesday's 13-12 victory over the Hokies.
